Plain-English summary: we collect the minimum we need to run a fantasy golf app. We don't sell your data and we don't show ads. You can delete your account at any time by emailing hello@golfkings.co.za.
What we collect
To run the app, we collect:
- Your email address — for sign-in via magic code and account recovery.
- Your display name and handle — shown in pools and on leaderboards.
- An avatar photo — if you choose to upload one.
- A device push token — only used to send notifications you've opted into.
- Your picks, team history, and pool memberships — core app functionality.
- Anonymous app usage events (which screens you visit, which features you tap) — to make the app better.
- Anonymous crash and performance diagnostics — to fix bugs faster.
We do not collect:
- Location
- Contacts
- Health or fitness data
- Financial or payment information
- Browsing history outside the app
- Advertising identifiers or cross-app tracking signals
How we use your data
We use the information above to run the app — sign you in, sync your picks, calculate pool standings, send notifications, and improve the experience. That's it. We don't sell your data to anyone, ever, and we don't share it with advertising networks.
Service providers
Like every modern app, GolfKings runs on trusted third-party infrastructure. We work with carefully selected providers for:
- Cloud database and account sync — securely stores your account, pools, picks, and pool memberships.
- Push notification delivery — routes Apple and Google push tokens so you receive alerts you've opted into.
- Anonymous product analytics — helps us understand which features are useful so we can focus development. Tied to a pseudonymous user ID; we don't share personal information with the analytics provider beyond your email and the events you trigger inside the app.
Each provider is bound by a data-processing agreement and only sees the data necessary for its role. None of them sells your data. Specific provider names are available on request to hello@golfkings.co.za or through the App Store's "App Privacy" section on the GolfKings product page.
Push notifications
You can toggle every push category on or off independently from Profile → Notifications inside the app. Score and team alerts default on; editorial alerts (articles, world-ranking shifts, new tournament fields) default off.
How long we keep your data
For as long as you have an account. If you ask us to delete it (email hello@golfkings.co.za), we remove your profile, picks, pool memberships, push tokens, and analytics identifiers within 30 days. Aggregated and anonymised analytics may persist beyond that.
Children
GolfKings is rated 4+ but isn't directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has signed up, email us and we'll delete the account.
Your rights
- Access the data we have on you — email hello@golfkings.co.za.
- Delete your account and associated data — same inbox.
- Opt out of push notifications at any time — Profile → Notifications inside the app.
- Opt out of analytics by signing out — we don't track signed-out users beyond crash diagnostics.
GolfKings has no real-money wagering, no in-app purchases, and no subscriptions. We never collect payment information.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app changes. Material changes are flagged in the app or by email to your registered address. The "Last updated" date at the top tracks the most recent revision.
